For motor accident  occurring from 12th  November  2004, The  General  Insurance  Association  of Singapore (GIA) has initiated a new process to facilitate  the  settlement process relating to motor vehicle accident claims by the adoption of the a standardized Singapore Accident Statement Form1 (SAS) for use by motorists at the time of accident. 

The objective of introducing  the  standardized  Singapore  Accident Statement  Form  is to  encourage  motorists  involved  in a motor accident to agree on the facts of the accident as far as possible at the scene of the accident as agreed by each other.
